How To Choose The Perfect Bat Mitzvah Tour Of Israel For Your Family And Daughter

Published on September 21, 2013 by IBMT

If your daughter has her Bat Mitzvah on the horizon you may have heard of travel companies that put together packaged trips to Israel. With so many to choose from, how will you choose the perfect company? Here are four questions that should help you choose the perfect tour for your family and daughter.

What Is A Bat Mitzvah Tour?

These tours and package holidays to Israel are to all family members, not only the B’nai Mitzvah girl (the child coming of age). These tours cater to all guests from younger siblings to grandparents and offer spectacular holidays for the entire family. Most tours are quite similar and include non-stop flights on Israel’s national airline EL AL to Tel Aviv and 5-star accommodation throughout the 12-day or 15-day tour. Most tours will begin in Jerusalem and focus on the Old City and a walk through the restored Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall Tunnels and the Time Elevator which presents the 3,000-year history of Jerusalem. Different companies have different ways of celebrating the Bat Mitzvah day itself so it’s important that you choose a tour that focuses on the areas and places that most interest you, your family and your daughter.

Can You Find Personal Recommendations?

One of the most reliable ways to find a great tour company is to ask friends, family and colleagues for recommendations. If you don’t know anyone who has been on such a tour, you could ask at your local synagogue or even post an open question on an online forum. If you want to book a tour through a travel agent, you could check whether they are affiliated with a national association such as ASTA in the United States.

How Long Have Your Tour Guides Been With You?

This is a great question to ask a tour company as it’s the tour guide who will make or break your tour of Israel. A reputable tour company will readily share with you the names and experience of the guides they have working for them. It’s a great sign if a tour guide has been with a company for a long time. This shows that the guides are knowledgeable, professional and well-evaluated by tourists. It also indicates that the tour company is a good, reputable employer that a professional guide is proud to work for. An awesome tour guide will have the skills to include both young children as well as grandparents and will become part of the family during the tour. They will meet you at the airport and stay with you every day. You will learn so much about Israeli customs, traditions and history that you could never expect to acquire elsewhere.

How Many Families Are Grouped On Each Tour?

These tours work by grouping different families together to see Israel in a whole different light. You may be apprehensive about going on a tour with families you have never met before but it’s a beautiful bonding experience and you’ll make friends for life. You may never have thought it possible, but families ranging in ages from 9 to 99 can share in the magic of Israel’s rich history and the wonder of the Bat Mitzvah ceremonies. If you prefer fewer families on each visit, this is one factor to check before you book!

We wanted to thank you so much for a beautiful Shabbat dinner! We visited your home on Dec 22, 2017 with the IBMT Bat Mitzvah tour. It was a wonderful way to begin our trip in Israel. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and loved spending time with your family. We appreciated your warmth and hospitality and having the opportunity to hear your story. We have ordered your book and look forward to reading it.

Wishing you all the best, And a very big thank you from Toronto, Canada

In August we went to Israel for our son’s Bar Mitzvah with our entire family. We had people ranging in age from 9 to 79 and needed a trip that would be fun for all. Ornan and his team at IBMT really took the time to get to know me and to find out what we needed before he planned a trip that everyone has agreed was the best and most memorable family trip that we’ve ever been on. The trip ran flawlessly and every detail was considered. We were able to customize our entire experience and all of his recommendations turned out to be amazing. Most importantly he was always available when I had any questions and worked tirelessly to reassure me that our trip would be perfect and it was.

We recently returned from a IBMT Tour for our son’s Bar Mitzvah and we all agree that it was the best vacation that we have taken to date.  The tour was well organized and the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable.  The events that they include in the tour include everything “must see” in Israel and activities that will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between.  The tour allows for activities for all ages and accommodates anyone who wants to do more or less than they have planned.  It is obvious to me and my family that they have put serious thought into planning the tour as all of the logistics were worked out.  We would confidently refer this tour group to anyone considering a Bar Mitzvah tour in Israel.

Hi Ornan,

"Opting to celebrate our son's bar mitzvah this summer with IBMT is one of the best decisions we've ever made.  The itinerary took us to places around the country that I've never experienced on previous trips to Israel.  Experiencing our son's bar mitzvah atop Masada as opposed to a more rushed, crowded experience at the wall truly sets IBMT apart from other tour companies.  The professionalism of the IBMT staff both in North America and Israel was superb...everything was incredibly well organized and we were heartened by IBMT's level of diligence in ensuring that every hotel and restaurant fully accommodated our son's food allergies.  Our tour guide Natalie was the highlight of the trip -- she is warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and tailored the experience for everyone's needs.  The other families on ...

To Ornan and  IBMT Tours staff,

We just got back from tour with IBMT for our Bat Mitzvah Tour in Israel.

We are so glad we have chosen the right company for our tour as I can’t express my words of how wonderful this tour company was, starting before we left, the personal service they showed here back home and later the service in Israel with our great tour guide Natalie who was so informative on every place we went and what we saw. It was so wonderful to listen to a person with so much knowledge, she made it very interesting for all of us to enjoy and we all became one big family.
Fun, Excitement & Connection, IBMT you are more then that. Everyone took care of each other looking after the children, everyone pitched in

Thank you very much for the IBMT Bat Mitzvah tour we just completed.  We had a fabulous time & there were lots of special little parts from the tour that contributed to that.  The different experiences for dinner were very special, and I liked the variety of different types of sites/attractions.  Our tour guide Natalie was excellent, and I heard good things from the other group about their guide Liat.

Thanks again
